The cost for following Jesus is high, but the reward is great!
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. – Mark 16:24 (NLT)
Following Jesus means you are inviting Him to take control of your life! You agree to turn from your sinful ways and live a life that is pleasing to God. Following Jesus means you seek Him in everything you do! He becomes the most important part of your life.
Are you ready to follow Jesus?
If you made the decision to give your life to Christ and turn away from all other religions, you can pray this:
Jesus, I know that I have sinned against You and this separates me from You. I am sorry and I want to turn away from my sinful ways and turn to You. Please forgive me. I believe that You died for me and my sins, that You rose from the dead, and are alive and hear my prayers. I’m asking You to become my Savior and the Lord of my life from this day forward. Amen.
What is the meaning behind this prayer?
- First you are admitting you are a sinner. You acknowledge you are not perfect and that you have made mistakes and bad decisions.
- Second, you understand you need a Savior. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
- Third, you are asking God for forgiveness of your sin. Simply ask, and it will be given to you. Jesus died on the cross so that you would be saved from eternal hell! Act 3:19 says, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,”
- Fourth, you believe that Jesus died for you and He is the ONLY way to eternal life in Heaven. John 14:6 says, “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Tell someone of your decision to follow Christ!
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
